Cashmere vs. Taupe kitchen Qualities
To understand our excitement for the new Taupe kitchen finish, it helps to first consider our existing and hugely popular Cashmere kitchen finish…Last year our Cashmere kitchen colour was still hot on the heels of the white kitchen finish in terms of desirability. In fact, in 2015 Cashmere matt kitchen doors proved the 2nd most popular kitchen choice among our clients. You can read more about the qualities which make the Cashmere kitchen so successful here, but in summary:
- The tone is warm, light and inviting
- It works within any kitchen size or layout, including very small kitchens
- The colour can enhance a room’s sense of space.
- It is a refreshing change from white for those who want a light-toned kitchen, but not in white.
- Cashmere is a neutral and accommodating tone so works well in most settings. It will compliment rather than dominate other colours and finishes.
- The Cashmere kitchen can bring warmth to very stark white kitchen walls or decor.
But what has this got to do with the new Taupe kitchen?
Well, the great news is that our new Taupe kitchen door shares all of the same positive qualities as listed above! This includes the same pink undertones and innate warmth of Cashmere… All of which makes us think that Taupe might just be the new Cashmere! In fact, since it’s launch in October 2015 we have already taken numerous Taupe kitchen orders…including for one of our staff, who’s new Taupe kitchen you can see pictured below:
So what exactly is the Taupe kitchen colour?
Ahead of its release last October, the LWK team were already excited at the news of a Taupe kitchen finish! Knowing the popularity of grey and earthy neutral kitchen tones, we were sure (before we’d even seen it) that this was going to be a very welcome addition for our clients. But it did have a little surprise in store for us…Having discussed it beforehand, our team’s general understanding of ‘Taupe’ was a tan colour bordering between grey and brown. But on seeing the new Taupe door in the flesh, we all agreed it was lighter than expected, with a slightly more greyish than brown hue, and with pink undertones.
These warm colour undertones are especially apparent when the Taupe is compared side-by-side with our Light grey kitchen door (as pictured).
The end result of this delicate colour blend is a soft and inviting neutral. It is extremely easy to introduce, and will work with all other décor, furnishings, tones and accessories:
Where does it fit within our kitchen colour range?
When it comes to neutral kitchen furniture we have an extensive selection of colours to choose from within our gloss and matt kitchen ranges. We have a number of whites, cream, cashmere, and a wide selection of grey kitchen doors which range from a very Light Grey to our darkest Carbon finish. But among these options, the new Taupe door still makes its mark, and we are delighted at the increased choice this addition brings for our clients. Within some of the stock images in the gallery above the Taupe is hard to differentiate from white doors, but in the flesh the distinction is clear; the new Taupe kitchen door has a place between our White finishes, and the Light grey and Cashmere kitchen doors. This arrangement is apparent within the selection of neutrals below:
Is the new Taupe kitchen for you?
Neutral tones are the most popular choice for kitchens because they can be introduced with confidence; you can be confident they are stylish but inviting, confident they won’t date, that they are the best option for adding value to your home, and of course they go with everything! For the combination of these reasons neutrals (including the new Taupe kitchen door) will always be popular. Of course, whether the Taupe is right for you depends on your own personal taste and preferences. But our expectation is that similar to Cashmere doors, the Taupe kitchen will be a winner with homeowners who want to stay neutral, yet just far enough removed from white doors to create a different look and character for their homes.
Our verdict on the new Taupe door is it’s a stunning kitchen option. Our best advice would be to see it in person and decide for yourself! To arrange this at either of our London Showrooms or Design Studio, send us a message, or call on 020 7536 9266.
