Kitchen project notes
With this project the challenge was completely relocating the kitchen to where the living room previously existed. There was no plumbing in the space, and the only feature in the room was the long, narrow window.
The Design / Solution:
The optimal layout for our client’s requirements resulted in an open plan kitchen with an island. This layout made the space very airy and bright, whilst also allowing us to incorporate all details and requests made by the client.
Units & Storage:
The client wanted as much storage space as possible, so we forwent wall units in favour of tall units upon one wall. Internal drawers were added inside tall larders, and this created easy access as well as space for organising food and utensils. The base units have been positioned underneath the window, and by adding the sink here, we have allowed for a view across the garden whilst washing dishes. The clients integrated dishwasher is also housed within the base units and fits in here perfectly, ensuring the entire kitchen flows seamlessly.
The kitchen island is the centrepiece of the kitchen and has been extended to the maximum, allowing for a very sociable seating and entertaining area. For the worktop, the client chose the thin, Neolith Estatuario 12mm worktop, and we successfully achieved a join-free installation for a seamless island look. The Terra Oak laminate finish on the island and base units marks the perfect contrast against the worktop. This makes the units stand out and is the perfect example of how wooden finishes should be used within a kitchen.
The client loves her kitchen and has since shown it to friends and family who were all really impressed with the outcome.
